John Walsom ROI ARSMA is a contemporary British artist who paints landscapes and cityscapes, in oil and watercolour, both in the studio and "en plein air" - outdoors in front of the subject. He has works in the collections of HM the Queen, Oxford University, and Hampton Court Palace.

November 2019 - At the Royal Institute of Oil Painters annual exhibition at the Mall Galeries, John was awarded the Artist Magazine prize
October 2019 - John is very honoured to have been made an associate of the Royal Society of Marine Artists
John will be exhibiting two paintings with the Royal Society of Marine Artists at the Mall Galleries from 10-19 October 2019.
John will have a one-man exhibition of his new oil paintings at the Fountain Gallery, Hampton Court from 23 July - 4 August. There will be plein air paintings and larger studio works, and John will be at the gallery each day during the run.
December 2018 - John has been elected a full member of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters
John's painting "Boats at Mylor Yacht Harbour" will move from the Royal Society of Marine Artists exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London, to be exhibited at The Baltic Exchange from 23 October - 6 November.
September 2018 - John has been elected as a member of Chelsea Art Society, and will exhibit with them on 25-29 October at Chelsea Old Town Hall, King's Road.
2018 - John will be exhibiting with the Royal Society of Marine Artists 11-20 October, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters 28 November - 9 December, both at the Mall Galleries in London.
July 2018 - One of John's two paintings chosen for exhibition at The Artist Magazine exhibition at Patchings Art Festival, "Bond Street, light and shade" won both The Artist category Clairfontaine Award, and also an Artist Exhibition Award, and "Boats at Mylor Harbour" was Highly Commended.
June 2018 - John won the £1000 first prize in the "Glorious Richmond" competition, with his painting "Richmond Riverside". Judges included Ken Howard RA, who said "Undoubtedly the best painting in this competition. If I wanted to buy one of the finalist paintings today, this would be the one I would choose".
In October 2018 John is very happy to be exhibiting alongside Ken Howard RA, Fred Cuming RA, David Curtis ROI RSMA, Richard Pikesley PNEAC RWS, and Peter Brown NEAC ROI PS in the Capturing The Moment exhibition at the Menier Gallery in London
John will have a one man show at the Fountain Gallery, Hampton Court, from August 21-September 2
December 2017 - John has been elected as an Associate of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters
October 2017 - John is exhibiting with the Royal Society of Marine Artists, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters this year.
June 2017 - John met the Queen at Hampton Court Palace, where she accepted print no. 1 of his watercolour of the Chapel Royal into the Royal Collection.
April 2017 - John has been elected as a member of the prestigious Wapping Group of Artists, one of the longest established societies of working artists in the country, which is limited to just 25 members.
March 2017 - John will be exhibiting with the Wapping Group of Artists, and the Royal Society of British Artists, in two exhibitions at the Mall Galleries, London.
December 2016 - The Royal Collection John's watercolour of The Chapel Royal at Hampton Court Palace is the first painting of it to be authorised by the monarch for 200 years. The original painting will hang in the chapel, and the first of a Limited Edition of 90 prints is being accepted by the Queen for the Royal Collection, and will be presented to her in the new year. Most of the rest of the edition will be available for sale from the Chapel Royal.
October 2016 - Three of John's plein air oil paintings will be on show at the Royal Institute of Oil Painters exhibition at the Mall Galleries, 30th November - 11 December.
June 2016 - John's painting "Cadogan Square" was awarded the Agnes Reeve Award for a painting of London at the Chelsea Art Society Annual Exhibition.
John's watercolours and oil paintings celebrate the light and colour in views of London, the English landscape, and subjects from urban landscapes to historic interiors.
